Mission
The Utah Center for Vocology conducts research, provides education in vocology, and disseminates information about voice and speech, enabling individuals around the world to enjoy healthy and effective vocal communications.
ASA Gold Medal for Dr. Titze
Dr. Ingo Titze has been selected to receive the prestigious Gold Medal from the Acoustical Society of America. The award will be presented on May 15 at ASA's annual meeting in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
UCV at PAVA
Dr. Titze, Dr. Maxfield, and Dr. Manternach attended PAVA in Miami this October. While there they presented papers and on panels and had a chance to reunite with many SVI Alumni.
UCV Researchers Collaborate with The Charismatic Voice YouTube Channel
Dr. Amanda Heller and Dr. Titze are featured in an episode of The Charismatic Voice with creator Elizabeth Zharoff and vocalist Will Ramos of Lorna Shore. Will visited the University of Utah and UCV on the way to get imaging of his vocal cords to learn how anatomical structures react while he performs harsh vocals.
Vision
The Utah Center for Vocology envisions a world where people have access to accurate information regarding the principles governing vocalization, and where all voice uses are recognized and understood.
Strategic Goals
- Educate students in the field of vocology, primarily through the Summer Vocology Institute
- Conduct original research investigating all aspects of the use, habilitation, and rehabilitation of the voice and speech
- Support the "One U" mission of interdisciplinary collaboration by building relationships across departments and colleges, proposing and facilitating interactive research and training projects
