NEW - SVI 2023 Calendar Condensed to 6 Weeks

The SVI planning team has announced a new, condensed schedule of courses for the 2023 Summer Vocology Institute.

The program will run from June 12 through July 21, 2023 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The full course calendar is attached (Some minor details are subject to adjustment, however program and course start-end dates are set.).

• Principals of Voice Production - 9am-12pm (3 days 8am-12pm) June 12-30. No Sat. or Sun.
• Instrumentation - 1-4pm June 29-July 11 (includes AM Sat. 7/1 and PM Sat. 7/8)
• Voice Habilitation - 10am-12pm July 3-21 (includes AM Sat. 7/8)
• Voice for Performers - 1-4pm July 12 - 21 (includes AM and PM Sat. 7/15)

 

Note that:

• • There are no classes on Sundays
  • There are three Saturdays with classes: 7/1 (am only), 7/8 (am & pm), 7/15 (am & pm)
  • Accomodations will be made to support religious observances, please discuss with staff

 

For students who started their SVI journey last year with Block 1 and/or Block 2, here are the dates they will need to attend to complete their remaining courses given the schedule changes.

• Block 2: (Instrumentation and Habilitation) - June 29-July 21
• Block 3: (Voice for Performers) - July 12-July 21

There were a number of factors that the planning team felt were important in shifting the course schedule. This arrangement allows SVI to start one week later, and end one week sooner which helps align with some international school schedules better. It also allows for easier participation in the Voice Foundation's Annual Symposium which takes place the week prior.

Most importantly, however, the team recognizes the financial and logistical challenges that working professionals face when taking so much time off from their business and families. The additional cost of living in Salt Lake City while maintaining their homes can be a burden and is a recognized barrier to participation in the program.

By creating more overlap between courses and adding some Saturday classes, the team has shortened SVI from 8 weeks to 6, without sacrificing a single minute of face-to-face instruction time. This should provide significant savings to our participants with regard to cost of living.

Applications for 2023 (and registration for returning students) will be available on our website no later than December 1, 2022.
